How it works: Groupon offers a deal from a local Portland merchant. They send out their "deal of the day" via email, twitter, etc. If enough people buy the deal, the deal is on! If not enough people buy, then the deal is off, and you're not charged.
The deals are usually 1/2 off Portland restaurant or services coupons, such as get $25 worth of services for $12.00. Merchants include local Portland restaurants, salons, food cars, bowling, dry cleaning, and much more. You really can't lose.

ZapHour has daily limited time free deals from restaurants and local businesses on a daily or hourly basis. Basically, if you're having a slow day at your diner, you can offer a ZapHour for a certain time frame to bring people in. Many free coffee offers and BOGO free entree coupons. Great way to try something new in your neighborhood, or near your workplace. And! it's Free! Free! Free!
Google Offers launched June 1 to much ballyhoo with a $3 for $10 offer for Floyd's Coffee Shop. Apparently Portland is the Beta Test Ground for Google Offers - in a market well saturated with daily deal sites (plenty listed below). We'll see how they do! Supposedly Google Offers is targeting larger businesses, like local hangout Powell's Books.
'It's Just Deals' has changed it's name to Tozmoz. Here's a another coupon site for Portland that works somewhat like Groupon. Tozmoz offers deeply discounted coupons that you can use at local businesses. It looks like they have more theater tickets, coffee shops, photo studios and massage deals, but as with any of these sites, you never know what you'll get each day! They also offer SMS coupons on your phone, so no printing a paper coupon to keep track. Check out Tozmoz.
And they keep changing names as well! Sharing Spree Portland discounts and deals does share part of it's take with non-profits in the area. And they're expanding to other cities. Let's see how long this business model will last, especially since the deals that land in my inbox lately have not been very exciting. And that's from all deals sites - Groupon, Zozi, Tozmoz - have deals been played out? Well, let's give Sharing Spree Portland a go!
I just can't stop it. I find these coupon sites fascinating. Here's a new one called Zozi.com - Incredible things to do. Zozi focusses more on experience, fitness, travel and getaways than on local business coupons. Worth a try!

PLEASE DONT FLAG. THE CHINCHILLA IS FREE. IF I DONT FIND HIM A HOME HE GOES TO THE HUMANE SOCIETY. I have a chinchilla up for adoption. Due to our need to downside we need to find him a new healthy permanent home. My husband starts med school next year and we are moving to the east coast. We wont have time or room for him then. We have had him for 3 years since he was 9 weeks old. He is a runt so not very large for a male chinchilla but hands down the best temperament of any chin I have ever known. He was born in a private pet shop and him and his mother were kept right at the counter. He handles loud noises, children and other animals without stress of any kind. These fuzzy guys can live up to 30 years, need to be kept very cool (not higher than 72) and never get wet. They are also power chewers and need wood regularly. They are inexpensive. I purchase his pellets, timothy hay, and litter at the orchards feed mill. Other than online, it is cheapest and good quality.I would prefer an experienced person to come and adopt him. His cage is for sale for 80 firm. If you would like to purchase the chinchilla cage you can. There is some calcium staining on the plastic trays and a small crack in one of them that would cant even notice. Does not affect performance. Otherwise in great shape. It can be broken down entirely. It was made by ferret nation. All items in cage are included (water bottle, corner litter boxes, duster bin, wood home, wood chew toys, pumice perch, wood perch, metal food dispenser, glass for dish. Although this type of animal is pretty much not smelly at all, they do lightly shed and poop a lot (little dry mouse like pellets) they must have their cages cleaned regularly. A good vacuuming and changing of litter and scrubbing it out entirely one a month outside. Must be willing to keep in permanent touch with us. We did not intend to ever give him up so we are trying are best to make sure he finds a likely permanent home. Thank you in advance for looking. We can't wait to interview potential families. CAGE IS NOT FREE.
